About Our Therapist
Dr. Omi J. Dobbins, LPC, NCC, NCSC
"Change is not easy...Growth is not easy. Therefore; some-thing different has to happen in order for one to feel some-way different."
I am so happy to introduce myself to you!

I have worked since 2000 with children and families, primarily. My experience spans across various settings from psychiatric hospitals and public health installments to counseling agencies and schools. I have worked extensively with troubled children, families in crisis and/or transition, married and co-habitating couples and adults experiencing adjustment issues. Additionally, I am highly skilled in academic, post-secondary and career advisement counseling. For those of you seeking a therapist who is personable, knowledgeable and discrete, I invite you to consult with me at no charge for 20 minutes.

I hold a Master of Arts degree in Psychology with a specialization in Professional Counseling and a Doctor of Education in Counseling Psychology. In supplement, I have spent the past 4 years researching my key area of interest; Postpartum Mood Disorders and the affect it has on women and their immediate circle of support. Postpartum Mood Disorders refers to Baby Blues, Postpartum Depression and other related areas of postpartum pathology. Anxiety, Low Mood, Hypervigilence, Tearfulness, Restlessness, Sleep Irregularity, Changes in Weight, Fatigue, Disturbing Thoughts, and Thoughts of Suicide or harm to the baby commonly accompany Postpartum Mood Disorders. Other related areas of care include Miscarriage, Fetal Demise, and Infant Death. Individual, Couples, Family and Group Counseling are available to address any of these issues.

Life changes and experiences arise at any given moment. The manner in which we address these issues can either serve as a catalyst for healing and learning, or a "stump in the road" that further enables us to remain in the same place. Whatever your situation may be, please know that you are not alone. I would love to work with you and/or your family.
